towing with a V10 F250

I am going to be starting a mobile welding business soon and was looking at strong trucks to pull around my 15' welding trailer. The trailer has a diesel welder, cutting oufit, tool box, metal rack, ect ect..Bacically everything you need to be mobile and be out in the feild. I was wanting a diesel but there really expensive and its hard to find a nice used one in my price range. So a buddy of mine suggested a V10 powered F250. So i looked around and found a bunch of nice ones in my price range with moderate miles. Would this truck/motor be able to the job without hesitation. I was using a 1/2 ton truck with a V8 in it and i think its to much for that truck. What do you think? What do you pull with yours? How does it behave? Thank you for your help.

Im not sure. Its a tandem axle car trailer that i got for free and built it up. The trailer with nothing on it is probably no more than 1200lbs. Its got about 2-3000lbs of stuff on it. I would have to say trailer and everything is no more than 6000lbs

A 5.4L would work fine, we pull our welding trailer with a Ranger and it is fine.

The V10 is strong. A 6K lb trailer is nothing to a V10. I would look for the Torqueshift tranny and 4WD if I were going to be off road much.

Iv also heard these things get horrible gas mileage. You dont really buy a big truck for good gas mileage but its a plus.

My '08 weighs in at 9500lbs and sometimes I pull my 14` tool trailer (4700 lbs) and I have no problems keeping up with traffic and sometimes pass the slow pokes. I also pull my 7200lb camper and various other trailers and have no complaints. As far as gas mileage I get 9 or 10 truck only and 8.5 towing but I have a heavy foot.

yeah no troubles. i have a sct x2 tuner from 5startuning. that helped alot with the transmission shifts. i get roughly 9-10 mpg while towing. pretty good considering the whole rig weighs about 17,500lbs.

I tow a 34 ft toy hauler that weighs 14-15k. 12 ft tall before the AC. The V10 tows it. Won't win any races, esp in the mountains or wind, but will get you there. It will have no problems with your welding trailer.

I haul my 11,000 lb Airstream with my 2008 V-10 and it handles it no problem, up many mountins, passing many diesels, so don't worry. When the diesels are shut down for whatever reasons, you will pass them while they are on the side of the road. It may take a few more cheaper gallons of gas to get you there, but you will get there and many times, the diesels won't.

I tow a 32' race car trailer with car complete tool box extra motor a gulf cart total weight would half to be around 12,200 and my 2008 V-10 pulles at speeds with out thinking about it. I drove diesel for years when I bought this one the diesel was a 9,500 dollar option not for me I was worried too but I love the truck. It likes to drink the gas but it pulles very well. All i have done was a better exhaust and a cold air intake.
