SAS question: 1976 f250 SAS

So I'm doing some shopping around and found this axle. What are your thoughts on it, is it a good axle to swap to my 1987 4.9 f150?

D44 6cf

4.09 D6TA AAD
603762 1

I did use the search function and did not find anything on this axle.

One concern I have is whether I would be able to swap my rotors and calipers from my 1987 f150 to it.

Here are some pics:

if i read the tag correctly, that is a Dana 44 from a 76 truck, with a 4.09 gear ratio.
the axle will need the spring perches moved to fit in your truck if you want to use leaf springs, or if you want to use the existing coils you will have to add coil spring mounts.

Yeah, I figured I would have to add some coil mounts. How are these axles as far as use go? Are they strong weak what are the pros and cons of going with this particular Dana? The reason I ask is because I couldn't find anything specific on Internet regarding this axle.

All I found was that this ale was made for about a year and a half, found in high boys, and some people consider it HD while others do not.

Any info on it or links to info would be great.

I tried mr.n's with no luck on this particular axle.

DO NOT USE IT !
THAT AXLE IS FROM THE OLD HIBOY , DEVORCED TRANSFER CASE TRUCK AND THE PINION ANGLE HANGS WAY DOWN !
you will have way more work than it is worth to get all the angles ( caster , you would need to have the center section cut and rotated to get the pinion angle turned up ) and brackets lined up for a dependable driver !

find a axle out of a 1/2 ton or bronco !

DO NOT USE THAT AXLE , AS THE PINION ANGLE HANGS DOWN ( due to the fact that this axle is from a high boy , DIVORCED TRANSFER CASE ) AND YOUR CASTER ANGLE WILL BE TO FAR OFF WITH OUT CUTTING AND TURNING THE PUMPKIN ! then all of you brackets would need to be fabbed up to work !
NOT WORTH IT !!!!!!

find one from a 1/2 ton or a ( bronco 78-79 )

That's a low pinion axle. I wouldn't use it. Try to find a high pinion axle from a later truck.

Lots of great info here: Mr.N's Dana Articles to Include 44, 60 information.
