Boost and EGT gauge install ?'s

Got a boost and EGT gauge on their way and wanting to know the best placement for each of them. What kind of numbers should I be seeing on both of these gauges?

Boost line just tees into the map line for easy install. Should see between 14-18 max with a stock truck, give or take. The pyro should be in the drivers side manifold. Keep the temps below 1200 except for short bursts above it are ok. Here's a pic of the pyro location

The instructions that came with my gauge said 6" down on the downpipe. Any difference in temps, if placed there? With the boost I should be able to just "T" off the tube that goes to the map sensor. Looks like a pretty easy install. (maybe I shouldn't have said that)

I think mine is about 3" down on the downpipe but you need to weld a 1/8" nipple on the pipe or what ever the pyro is can't remember been a long time i did it before i installed the downpipe, and the T no sweat.

What did you get for a gauge? Downpipe readings can be as far off as 3-400 degrees compared to the manifold temp.

I have glowshift gauges. I should probably do what the gauge says to do. Maybe that is how it is designed or something.

In 5th gear @ 2200 rpms wot I get a max of 10psi boost, that's after she hits about 25-2600 rpms. I can barely hit 10psi?? What's with that I thought I should see over 10? Any ideas or am I asking too much?

Did you try it in 4th? You should be able to hit 15 stock, give or take a little. Look for boost leaks and exhaust leaks.

I decided to install the pyro on the drivers Side manifold. Just waiting for my custom gauge/switch pod. It took the hills better than it did before and I got up to 14 psi boost in 5th @ 2900rpms. Also just installed an HPX line. Do some more driving tomorrow and see how she does.
