01' F-150 Wont start when cold. FIXED!!
I have a 2001 F-150 4.2l auto 2wd. For about a year now I have had this problem. When the weather would get lower than 45 degrees, the truck would just crank and not start. I would have to cycle the key several times until I would hear the fuel pump. Then it would fire up. During the summer it would start fine. Yesterday my trick of cycling the key didn't work and the truck didn't start. The fuel pump went out on me. I changed the fuel pump and like magic it starts again. Since I replaced the fuel pump, I have realized a few drivability issues that I didn't realize were issues. It used to hesitate when giving gas quickly and it would miss out pretty regularly. I had a cylinder 3 mis-fire code that hopefully doesn't come back that may have been related as well. I just wanted to tell you guys what my issue was and how it was resolved incase someone is searching for the same answer I have searched for. Thanks for the great forum.
