Major oil leak

I have an issue I am hoping someone may possibly help me with. I was driving today, noticed smoke, pulled over and saw a oil leak. I returned home and discovered it was a big oil leak, from the top rear of the motor, and pouring down both sides of the motor. I had to find the leak, and even though I only change the oil on this vehicle I am a pretty good backyard mechanic and decided to look for the leak. I pulled the turbo, as the leak was coming from under there I was sure. The bottom rear of the turbo was covered in oil, and it appears it was coming from around the HPOP. I have a 2005 f250, and I didnt think the hpop could leak to the outside of the motor, could it be the ipr leaking? The silver wrap around the ipr was full of oil when I removed it, i could squeeze it before I removed it and oil would come out. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks, Ken

there might be a possibility of oil leak from turbo. have u pulled the hpop? it could be leaking from the seal if from hpop area. also, u might wan to pull the ipr out and check the screen. is it torn or gunked up? if so, time to change it. if torn, another possibility could be gunk and sludge has gone to ur oil cooler, thereby clogging it up and the oil cooler is now leaking as a result.

wat color was smoke? if white, it's usually the oil cooler. if u gotta change the oil cooler, change the egr cooler, or do a complete egr delete. ur choice.

if u got more info on ur findings, throw it out here, and the other guys (experts) will chime in.

best of luck. we're all here for u, pal.

Kwooten look in the tech folder there is a thread on oil leaks. also when you pulled turbo how did oil supply line look , that the line that bolts to the top of the turbo. I don't think IPR's leak but maybe it could. Have you changed oil lately did you use MC filter ? And did you install new O ring on cap , they can leak pretty good there, don't ask how i know.

The IPR rarely leaks oil
The HPOP cover can leak
The turbo drain line can leak

Change out the STC fitting while you are in there (this is very important)
I would also replace the Standpipes and Dummy Plugs,

I will list all the problems I have had before this went down. I was having smoke at start up, white smoke, but this I attributed to egr/egr cooler. I was planning on doing a egr delete with a new oil cooler, but the oil leak changed plans and now since I already have the turbo off I will be doing it now. I just wanted to make sure the oil leak is fixed, i mean there was alot of oil leaking, and it appeared it was coming from around the hpop, the bottom of the turbo on that side is soaked with oil, maybe it is the seal for the hpop, I will pull that today and take a peak. The turbo drain looked great, no leaks. Thanks for the info guys

Check out the EOP..... When they blow the cover everything to the tailgate. It's the sensor with 1 wire going to it (back of oil filter housing , too of oil cooler cover)

Just to fill everyone in, since I don't normally see a final solution, I will post what caused the leak. I replaced the oil cooler, did an egr delete, and stc fitting on the hpop. On top of the hpop there is a small hex head bolt with an o ring. The o ring on that bolt was blown and that caused the oil leak. Truck is back together, but am still seeing smoke from tailpipe. I have a p0281 code, and thats my next project, I will let you all know how that turns out. Thanks again for all the suggestions, Ken
