Turbo for towing and reliability

2005 F250 Lariat FX4 bought new, has 72000 miles, P0299 won't go away. Intermittant no Heat controls work. Truck is Stock

2yrs ago, sticktion truck hard to start, when 10 degrees outside. Warms up runs OK, Switch to T6 Rotella much better cold starting when cold out.

Flush Motor, Restore + flush flush flush, VC 9 from Ford drive 70 miles HWY, pull thermostat, flush, drive Flush, drive flush, for 3 days , , 54 gal more gals of distilled water. Fill with Rotella ELC (red) hooked up CS gauges & fuel pressure gauge. Drive several months EOT vs ECT 9 been seeing 11. blue spring fuel pressure 71 to 69 will drop to 65 WOT

Tear down top of motor rebuild oil cooler, EGR delete, STC update, everything looked good, accept for oil in CAC tubes and intake. CCV reroute today. Stand pipes & dummy plugs.

Split Turbo and I'm Screwed, Unison ring was stuck to top had to pry it off. cam that opens and closes vanes was also stuck corroded all around it (the variable vanes were exposed unison ring stuck to other half). Unison had no cracks looks pretty good, the housing is severely rusted, cleaning and emory clothing for severel hours and it looks pretty bad ( pitted deep )

So I need a Turbo, I tow 14K RV once, twice a month. Drive 140 to 200 miles sometimes farther.

I just want a reliable setup. What Turbo? Thinking about Powermax and SCT X3 tuner with towing tune from Matt?

After going through this, I wish I had went with Bullet Proof Oil Cooler and EGR. Expensive but that stock Oiler Cooler is BS and so is the oil filter.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Powermax is a good turbo, but you need a tune along with it I believe.

I wouldn't tune my truck unless its studded, ecsp while towing 14K.

Stock might be a good replacement for you,

I dont know were your at but if your close I have 2 good 6.0 turbos cleaned with new unison ring and good vgts for sale. both units have under 50k miles.

How much for a Turbo. should i call or email you my number?
I'll be back in Texas working in a week or 2 weeks.

I just found a glow plug leaking oil its pretty wet (when i was tightening y-pipe to exhaust manifold. Can i just change one or all 4 and new wirng harness.

Thanks

I have the powermax, and I love it. Noticed a difference in performance even with a canned tune.

cruising many have reported that egt's are higher. But when the the truck is pushed, the trubo helps lower egt's.
