89 f150 power steering trashed

so... curiousity has got the best of me. I am needing to replace my stock PSP on my 89 f150 302 and was reading up on this Cardone 20-6244 and come to find now they have discontinued it. Then more research someone had discovered the new Cardone 20-7272 would replace the 6244 and then someone else states its a completely different unit. So I am curious as to how/if it is possible to swap or what I should do to replace mine and what I would need. Yes I have searched and only to find old threads with outdated products. I do have access to a local junkyard but if it involves rebuilding a stock pump off an E series van, that would prove to be impossible since they dont make rebuild kits for Saginaw PSP's on the E-series vans...

And Cardone Reman has replacement pumps for my exact vehicle so I dont know what to do and any help would be great, I have read nearly every searched thread with no viable up to date info.

What is the build date of your truck? This will come from the Certification Label on the driver's side door jamb.

I'm trying to look up factory replacement pumps for you in the 80/89 FoMoCo Light Truck Parts Catalog but there were apparently two used - there was one used 12/87 to 3/89, and another used after 3/89.

Soo after doing some more looking I discovered I could use the A1 cardone from O'reilly. Anyone have any insight if they are a better pump than the old stockers?

I seen that but no one has said anything if they are decent pumps and hold up or if they whine every 6 years like the factory ones.

I was infact going to buy from Oreilly's due to it being cheaper. With core charge and shipping for the new one plus to ship my current one back would cost more than $50 and I could order online from Oreilly and pay less still.

Just use ATF Type F fluid or Lucas to keep the whining down a bit.........I just replaced my pump with an A1 Cardone unit, (these units are remanufactured Ford power steering pumps, NOT new pumps) and it whines a bit like the old one, but no leaks! If the noise really bothers you THAT much then you can do a Saginaw pump swap. (The pump that the 80's?/90's E series vans used) This pump does not whine and provides more steering power, according to those that have done the swap.

Than involves getting a used pump from a junkyard correct?

Was really looking into doing that but everything I found on it was leading me to discontinued pumps. How would I do the Sag swap if the pumps are no longer made?
