1977 F150 Supercab To a 1979 f350 Frame

I have a 1977 F150 Supercab short bed. I have found a 1979 F350 Short bed 4 x 4. Is it possible to put my Body on this frame?

im sure you dont have a 350 short bed, unless someone made it. that means they already shortened the frame. you can use the crossmember for the rear cab mounts but you will be a little short to fit the box.

a supercab in a reg cab short bed frame will leave you with a useless bed.....unless thats what your going for

although it would make a prety narly trail rig

I currently own a '77 SC SWB that I purchased 8 years ago for the same purpose. Ford didn't make one in 4X4 and I wanted something different. I owned one like it just before that that somebody made. Unfortunately, they started with 1/2 ton drivetrain and a very rust body and bed. I found a F250 std cab LB frame and put 60s underneath it. That was as far as I got as I didn't have the time nor the place to do it right. I eventually lost interest and sold everything but the 2WD truck.

If you plan to go ahead, remember that your wheelbase is 139" on the 2WD. The wheelbase for a std cab LB is 133". I have seen a few of these done and most that I have seen cut the front of the bed to shorten it the 6". In my opinion, this doesn't look right. Whoever built the rusty one I owned moved the rear axle back 6" and looked much better. The axle isn't centered in the arch of the frame but I don't think that would be a big issue.

I'm in the middle of a similar build. I put a 2wd 76 supercab on my 4x4 78 F250 regularcab longbed chassis. I had to make the rear cab mounts work because they were too wide. I moved the rear axle forward 10"s but Its still longer than a shortbed. So I'm going to either make a custom tube flatbed, or shorten up a stepside bed to fit. My biggest hassle was getting the 76's wiring to hook up to the 78's. The color codes changed, but with a few wiring diagrams I worked it out. The hard part was figuring out the neutral safety switch, they changed in those couple years. Here is a link to my build thread, maybe it will help.
