Can anybody tell me if the f150 frames are the same between the supercab shortbed and the crewcab shortbed?? Building a prerunner and would like to change cab to a crewcab from a supercab.
Thanks.

I believe the super-cab frame is a little longer then the super-crew frame.

it can be installed, but you will have two problems. First, the rear cab mounts will need to be moved. Two, you will have an extra short bed to deal with. The wheel bases are about 22 inches longer for crew versus supercab.

The extra length of the frames is between the front and rear wheels. That is why it's not a swap for swap. It can be done, just tough though. If you are gonna make a pre-runner out of it it would be easier though. Just have to move the rear cab mounts. A pre-runner doesn't need a bed.

why are the framed drasticaly different ?? the SHORT bed supercab is 6 ft and the SHORT be Crew is 5.5 ft. The difference of 6 inches is the difference in the cab length of the Crew and supercab... I think wheel base is the same lenght... I have not looked into this, but dont seem like a real big problem. ??

IIRC, the SuperCrew is built on the 139" Wheelbase chassis, the same wheelbase chassis as the SuperCab Short Bed. I would expect that cab and bed mounts would be different between the two, as the SuperCrew has a longer cab, and a shorter bed, than the SuperCab S/B.

The 157" wheelbase chassis is for the SuperCab Long Bed, which is what I have.

I would bet the frames are the same, and there is a bed/ cab mount riveted to the frame that can be removed and mounted on the other holes and remounted for the other cab.

That is what I am thinking.
