Question for numberdummy or anyone

Does anyone have the part numbers for a 56 (or 53-55) f100 steering box parts. Looking mainly for the steering shaft, pitman shaft (since they repo bearings and seals) but I'll take all the numbers if you have them.....I think need to buy the truck cd now.

Those are just illustration numbers. You need to transfer them to the actual parts numbers (darn, my book are 600 miles away = another good reason to buy a CD)

That is true....but....the basis of the part number IS the illustration number and in some cases they are exactly the same according to my Ford chassis and parts catalog. There may be modifiers added to the illustration number in cases where the pictured part varies with options or models but for someone who has no info right now, this is a step in the right direction. The real problem is finding the part once you have the part number...

True. Just missing the prefix and suffix , such as BAAA-3552-A. I've still got a lot of box parts to rebuild my 54. Those numbers might have been superceeded by now. There might be a "standard" number on the bearing cone and race.

do most of the box parts interchange with the 54-55 box, with the exception of the shaft and tube....I think the '56 column is shorter because of the steering wheel?

I thought the shaft would be shorter too for the 56. I gave a friend a 54 shaft for his 56. He said the 54 shaft was too short.

Digging through some stuff, I found an old Mac's catalog. steering shaft with worm gear 53-55 F100-200 TAAA-3524-A 56 is all by itself. Try: MAC's Antique Auto Parts I think they are still one of our sponsors.
