Question FORD'S NEW 5.8 FOR THE MUSTANG

Just saw on Leftlanenews that Ford has a brand new 5.8l supercharged/turbocharged (not sure which one?) motor for the 2013 Shelby GT500. It is good for 650hp and 200+ mph. Article said it is designed to be Ford's Camaro fighter. I know sometime back there were rumors of a 5.8 motor for the future but it seemed Ford went the route of the 5.0, 3.5 ecoboost, 3.7 and 6.2. For you guys that are in the know or know your motors better than me, any chance the next complete redesigned F150 gets this motor? And if so, how would Ford spec it hp/tq wise considering their current all new line up??

i have been keeping up on the the new mustang. i knew that not long after the ZL1 came out for the camaro they Ford was gonna put out. and im glad they did cause the ZL1 killed everything. i just hope they do a complete oever hual of the design for the new mustang... im getting real tired of the same look since the past what 15, 20 years?

i dont think there going to be comming out with a remastered motor for the ford pickups cause didnt they just release the 2011 ecoboost? i LOVE the look o the new F150's except the tail lights... one thing i dont like about them

well you can tell the different gens.. what i was trying to say is there the same style year after year, the round shaped the round front bumper the tail lights.. everything look at the huge make over the camaro went through. from the 4th gen to the 5th gen TOTALLY different. thats what ford needs to do. make designs and sketches and start posting them on all over the different ford forums... ive noticed that ford doesnt interact with all there customers... as were such as the camaro forums the actual owners of cheby are on there posting concept art and what not.

It seems like I remember reading an article about four or five years ago that stated Ford was working on the 5.0L the 5.8L and the 6.2L and that was going to be the new engine lineup for the F-150's...

...But since then C.A.F.E and the EPA have raised the fuel efficiency standards to astronomical numbers, and I think because of this the Ecoboost took the place of what was supposed to be the new 5.8L V8.

I would love to see the 5.8L (351) make a comeback myself. The new 5.0L is nothing short of awesome. And if anyone can do it Ford is the company to do it right...But I can't help but have my doubts with the super green agenda our government is gravitating towards these days.

Sounds like the perfect engine for an SVT Lightning!

But I doubt we'd see it before the Raptor goes away.

The "new" 5.8L is just a bored and stroked 5.4L aluminum block. MotorTrend reported this in their "first look" at the new Shelby GT500 SuperSnake. It's supposed to make 640hp.

I've been a Mustang guy for many years but I don't care for the looks of the rear-end of the later models. I also don't like the idea of putting 2 different size tires on it.

agreed, the newer mustang model just doesnt interest me. thats why i had said that they need to make a COMPLETE change of the mustang, look at the difference between a 4th gen camaro to a 5th gen. i just think ford needs to interact with there peoples alot more. post up concept sketches let there fan base vote for what model THEY like

I love the new mustangs. They look extremley sexy. By far the best looking mustang since the pre 71's.

And ford will never go back to a pushrod motor. There is no need for it. There new engine out perfom there old ones in every way diplacement for displacement.

Ford hasn't built an SVT Lightning! for a few years. Don't be surprised if we see one in the next few model years with a 4.8 supercharged engine. That baby will sticker for around $65k to $70k.
