Antenna too tall for garage...
So my truck is on the way, but when I did the test fit, the truck fit great i the garage with the exception f the antenna, which touches the garage door... Anyone have a good option for something slightly shorter (not looking for a 6" stubby antenna) that won't completely kill radio reception? Is there a standard thread pitch/size I can look for?

I guess it bothers me that it will clank around every time I pull in. Seems like a small price to pay to be able to drive into the garage without some sort of interference. Glad it doesn't bother you, though...

On my last two trucks I have cut the antenna to the correct height with an air saw and reinstalled the original tip. It is very easy to do and if you scratch the tip removing and installing you can paint it with flat black paint and you won't be able to tell it has been touched. I think you can also buy a shorter antenna at Oreilly's too. Good luck!

I didn't like it hitting the garage door everytime I went in, so I just cut it, and JB welded a new round tip on the end. A little spray paint and you cant even tell.

The antenna is supposed to be the said length for best FM reception. Although a few inches will not make a major difference. What I did was up from the base about 4 inches and bend the antenna back to match the slope of the windshield. If you remember what was done in the pass...you could buy an antenna with a so to speak "a "Z" bent into the antenna) to maintain the specified length but shorter.
