1990 F-250 various issues

Im new to the site and am glad to find a place to ask questions. I have a fly wheel that has 2 teeth chipped off. I have not changed this part before but am mechanically inclined. Is this too much for me? I know i need to take off transfer case tranny and clutch.

Other issue when the truck is cold it wont fire up right away. also when it does in any gear at about 2500 rpms it sounds like it wants to choke out. once it warms up this problem gos away.
pretty sure its the 302 it is 4x4. and its gasoline not diesel any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

On the "choking out @2500 RPM" problem, check your fuel filter. My '89 had a similar issue that was cured by changing the fuel filter. Changing the flywheel on a manual trans truck should be fairly straight forward, but just a lot of work pulling the transfer case, trans and clutch.

On the flywheel, there is no need to replace the whole flywheel, the starter ring gear is replaceable, you can get the ring gear at NAPA or your favorite auto parts store then take it to a machine shop to have it installed..

This should save you a few $$$

Maybe someone can chime in but I wonder if the 90 has a canister filter like my 86. It's also the tank selector on dual tank models. Had issues and turned out that filter was clogged.

Test your fuel pressure when running, but my truck did the same thing that you're saying. Fine till about 2500 then it started dying. That was after I replaced both pumps but before I found the canister filter.

And no, I'm not talking about the inline frame filter.
