6 volt wiring problems

I am rewiring my 1950 F1 and installed a new Rebel 6 volt wiring kit. I have been able to get the truck to start with the new wiring installed only when using the starter button on the soleniod. I can not get it to turn over using the key. I know I am close but could not figure it out this weekend. Does anyone have any suggestions?

So I'm confused - which is apparently a continuing condition. Can you clarify what 'starter button on the solenoid' means?

Thanks

Some 6V solenoids have a button on the bottom to crank over the engine. Mine does too.

mlis, do you have it wired to a starter button on the dash, or just the key switch? Does the switch have a "start" function? Give us a few more details of how your starter wiring is set up.......

I wonder if their kit assumes you have the later 51/52 two-pole starter switch?
