Radiator Leak

On Friday am I noticed a 6" sized puddle on the garage floor. Coolant leak on the drivers side coming off the frame. Dropped it off at the dealer on Sunday and today the tech tells me it was in fact a radiator leak and the new one will be here wed. They hope to have it buttoned late Wednesday. I am assuming all will be covered under warranty.
I have 23k miles logged and had just got home from a 1300 mile run pulling about 18k worth of hay and trailer. Truck performed flawlessly. Averaged 11mpg for the trip.
I am hoping this is the first and last radiator replacement I have to go thru.

I am hoping too, got mine done last month. Sadly, your post (while I appreciate it) is not good news. I was hoping mine was a fluke. We may be seeing more of this in the coming months.

Whoever makes/supplies Ford with radiators is seriously getting me angry. I wish Ford would have gone to a better product. They are not made to last or hold up to heavy use.

if this is the same radiator as the one in the 6.4 this is will be the start of a very very long list of repairs.

I'm simply amazed that after 3 years (08-11) of bad radiators, Ford would have woke up and did something different......

Could have been worse

Thank your lucky stars they are just radiators and not high pressure fuel pumps

Hi guys, had mine replaced at 75000 km, of course it was off warr. The truck is used for my work that is why the warr was out 10 months into owning it. The long and short of it is the rads put in at the factory from march 2010 until sept 2010 were "defective" so says my work order. I complained to the dealer about having a 10 month old truck that needs a rad, so in the end I paid 200.00 dollars of the 1100.oo dollar bill.
I have 120000km on it now and all is good, you will notice the new rad does look differant.
Good Luck

Great....mine was built May 2010....guess mine's defective..guess Ford won't recall something like that....since it's not safety....

I'll be sure to keep an eye on it...and get it in as soon as I see any coolant...

Sorry to hear about the bad radiator. As Joel said this is not good news.

These aren't the same radiators as are used in the 6.4L trucks. Maybe from the same manufacturer though...

I had mine replaced under warranty also and all has been good since then. It better not go out again since I have 74k on the truck in 1 1/2 years. I have a thread out there some where on this. The truck had been great and no complaints but the last thing that should go out is the radiator.

Great, mine is a May 2010 build.
Maybe we'll hear more about this "defective" radiator from Ford.

My tk has 39 k on it and i have added maybe 2 pints in the last 5k miles. Today I noticed that it was leaking on the right side on radiator. Called local ford dealer in Carthage NC a few miles from my house and they said "sorry we cant help" your 3 k out of warranty.

They should begin a campaign on replacement of radiators for trucks in the date range for bad radiators.

I have a Toyota Prius that I received a notice about a year ago on that one of the water pumps may be defective so I took it to the dealer and they put a new one on. Car had 65,000 miles on it, out of warranty, didn't matter.

Me too started to smell antifreeze couple months ago took to dealer needed a radiator and 47,000 miles on it out of warranty... Luckily I bought a aftermarket warranty 8 years 100,000 bumper to bumper and the dealer didn't notice this but all is good now.

Tom I fear you may be right...with this many people saying they have already replaced theirs...not to mention the thread about people having to fix their AC units...it makes me wonder what is going on with all these parts.
