Fiberglass Fenders to running boards

Those of you who have fiberglass rear fenders did you use an additional support or reinforcing at the point where the running boards attach? If so what and does it make any difference that my fenders are the 3" wider ones?
Thanks in advance!!

ya know.. I don't remember what is on the fender side of the joint.. I know I put the nut under the board, and did NOT use a big fender washer (cause it was ugly)..

I'm taking the truck out of the trailer a little later and will take a pic..
(same 3 in wider fenders, steel running boards)

man!.. things you forget.

I ordered 4 of the polished stainless bedside bolts (same as I used to hold the fenders)..

Thanks Sam, and you have no issues with just the two bolts holding that part of the running board? I know we don't walk on them but would have thought that the movement of the truck would cause some wear there.

I used fender washers with 5/16" bolts in 3/8" holes, with thin rubber washers against the glass, and nylock nuts that aren't "too" tight.

Nothing.

Remember this is a show vehicle, so I only have about 300 miles total.

I used 4 stainless steel bolts with ss washers through the locations designed into the metal running boards. Now all of you have me second guessing that.

For a driver, I'd recommend going with what Ross did. You want the support without overstressing the 'glass.

Thanks for the pics and advice on the running board side, now what about the rear part of the fender for these fiberglass ones? On the old rear metal ones I remember that there was a stiffing bracket on the back part of the fender, I'm assuming one is need on the fiberglass ones as well but what did you use for the 3" wider ones? Pics please???

MidFifty makes one for the wider fenders
3” WIDER FENDER BRACE, use for 3” wider fenders
.POLISHED SS, fits either side . . . . . . . . . .1536-PS . . . . .$32.50 ea.

I have not put mine on yet.. but have drilled the hole in the fender for the bolt.

Based on what I've seen on metal rear fenders, I'd also cushion the connection to the fender there. There's a lot of twisting going on. All you want to do is keep the fender from flapping around.
