Don't buy Extended Diesel Engine Care Warranty

I bought it once on an 05.....never again. Never again Ford!

Ford will do EVERYTHING to weasel out of it covering your repair!!!! It's a scam and a waste of money in my opinion.

Best example....truck is leaking diesel fuel, fuel pressure regulator leaking, dealer determines the problem is the fuel pressure regulator gasket. Fuel pressure reg. is one of 13 covered components, but Ford screws the customer over by NOT covering the gasket as well....complete B.S.

There is another example as well.

Stay away from Diesel EngineCare{7 year/200,000 miles}....don't waste your money!!!

Shame on Ford warranty for being a weasel.

this is not isolated to Ford, i bought my dodge gasser new along with an extended warranty, after the 3yr 36 was up i had a fan relay go bad, took it to the dealer they called it a fan switch and denied it, they try to get you on technicalities. that is also why i never buy a warranty for anything they are all scams, yes you and i could have prevailed eventually but not before countless hours and possibly getting lawyers involved. and these warranties are very specific if it is not explicitly listed in as a covered part it will not be covered as you have stated.

$100.00 dollars later the so called "warranty" issue was my fault. funny that i had not touched the bottom of the truck where they had "serviced" it! shame on them for sure!

I have never had a problem with my dealer or Ford on my ESP warranty. In fact my dealer has bent over backwards to help me at times. Not all dealers are created equal. Nor are SA's.

Waste of money. Never buy an extended warranty. They are a scam, just like the OP said.

yes i agree wif everyone in here. however, if it was ur fuel pressure regulator, u can replace it wif a new kit. even if ur not technically inclined, u can successfully do it. i've learnt many things since getting on here in FTE. check our tech folders out. also, some of the other guys like bismic, cheezit, npccpartsman, etc., will chime in and offer very helpful advice when u need it. best of luck wif ur repair!

It is not so much whether or not you can wrench on your ride, as the extended warranty was not cheap, and it is supposed to provide a level of security and eliminate the need to wrench on it unless it is an obvious non-covered part, but when they decline you over a silly technicality it is an outrage, not covering the part because it is the gasket, really? So I suppose in their eyes it doesn't need the gasket? To me it is cheap and low. But yes we are here to help, so anyone contemplating buying these useless pieces of paper send FTE the money u R about to spend on that extended warranty and at the same time buy some tools and an AE setup

You guys are better off to save your money and do it yourself

Ford is usually pretty good about it usually not always

Normally its the After market warreny companies that stick it to ya and if you dont claim it just right they wont honor it either even if it was covered part

I bought an AM warenty went to use it and they already out of bissiness Never again didnt even get a chance to argue over it with them Spineless cowards warrenty wasnt that old at the time either

Its almost another Legitimate Form of THEFT

I said that wrong IT IS ANOTHER FORM OF THEFT

well im going to have to disagree - i purchaced a Ford ESP on my 05 and i bet it paid for itself 3 times over. my dealer has always been great - never any crap or weasel moves, even once repairing a small oil leak while it was in for a differant repair and putting it on the same work order to save the deductable. Now i will say i have purchaced a vehicle from the same dealer with the ESP and never used 1 dime of it - so i believe its a crap shoot, but you have to have a reputable dealer to back it up.

And from what I hear there is diffrent levals of ESP
am I correct to think his guys?????

so if you dont want to read the fine print and decipher the high tech terms and your set on getting a warrenty you Better get the Best coverage Advalible

I would say that a warrenty thru Ford is way more likely to help you than a warreny thru a independant warrenty dealer

The Independant warrenty companies are the Biggest SCAMERS in the Bisness

There are VERY VERY FEW problems with a Ford ESP compared to the Alternate

Maybe he could try a diffrent dealer IDK

yep. u do have a point too. sadly though, it's how the dealerships wanna help u out. everything is subject to the next guy's interpretation. sad but true. i feel bad for the OP having to go thru tis nonsense. simple stuff. shoulda been covered.
