Ignition wiring question

I recently swapped out the points setup in my brothers 71 360 and put in a crane cams electronic module. My question is wheter or not the ignition wire leading to the coil has resistance? The coil I have says on it "use with external ballast resistor." Does anyone know if I need to run an extra resistor before the coil. It runs as is, when I installed a resistor it wouldn't start, but that could have been a different issue...Thanks.

I just installed Pertonix on my 70 390. There is an original pink wire that acts as the resistor. I believe the wire leaves the ignition as red with a green tracer, then connects to a pink wire, and back to red with green tracer again. Basically, if the wire from your ignition to coil is still stock, then the resistor is already there. Adding another resistor might limit the power to the coil too much.

Thanks, that makes complete sense. Just wanted to make sure and not burn up my ignition.
