Where to sell Flathead?

I got the flathead in my 53 f350 running. I dont know if its org to the truck but it says 8BA on the valve cover. The po had put an alternator 12v coil and newer starter solenoid on it. Also has a new cap, rotor and points. It runs and sounds good but needs the carb to be rebuilt. Wut is a good price and where do i try to sell?

Sure they do, but we actually call them an intake manifold.

But seriously mustang, if original for the '53, the heads should be EAB. The price is really dictated by several factors, one of the most important is location. This is not the average part that you can ship UPS or Greyhound. Being in NH, you are probably limited to the NE area. Also keep in mind that with the economy in it's present and foreseeable future, it is a buyers market. I've seen professionally rebuilt flatties going for thousands of $$$, and average 'running flatties go for a few hundred $$.
I just bought a good running 8BA for $300 and last year a non stuck, non running EAC ('53 Mercury) that needed the distributor replaced for $200.
I would try running an ad in the local craigslist first.

I have a success story about selling flatheads. I bought a flathead for a friend and the guy flaked on me and did not take it. There I was with a motor I did not need. There was the Super Nationals show in Knoxville TN comming up so I mounted the motor and an old radiator that would have made an excellent sprinkler system, on my 12' trailer, got it running good and was off to the show. Sunday afternoon late a fellow who had looked at the motor several times came around and bought it for $1,500.

If I had another motor to sell and wanted top price, I would take it to a show, running preferably, as people loved to hear the old girl crank up with only a touch or the starter wires and listened to the beautiful musical sound they make when goosed or idleing, or anytime they are running especially with no pipes or mufflers.

Best of luck with your project.

Well i was thinking craiglist would be best but didnt really know wut to price it. If i was going to get less than 5 i will rebuild ther carb and run it or tuck it away in the garage just to say i have it or make a glass table out of it for a conversation piece. I would prefer to sell it and get a 5.0ho. Thanks for the help guys.

You are correct about all the possibilities, of course, he could just get the date code off the top of the block and know for sure.

According to Vanpelts, the EAB's were produced in '52 & '53
Flathead Specifications: 1949-53 V8
Later 1952 and '53 Fords and Mercurys were known as "EAB" and "EAC" respectively. These markings are generally cast into the cylinder heads. The truck versions often had different oil pans to accommodate the different suspensions, and some truck V8's were factory "relieved". The EAB's and EAC's did not have the hardened valve seat inserts like the earlier engines.
