1997 F250 cat removal, can it be done?

Well I want to remove my gigantic torpedo cat off my 1997 F250 with the 460 but it has that dang post cat O2 sensor. I have seen and heard of ways bypassing this sensor but want to know if anyone here has done it. Any power or mileage gain? I would think removal of this monster would help. Any tips or links will help, thanks! Oh and the truck doesn't have to get smother ever.

the cat on my 96 250 was removed when i bought it, all i did was but an extention that pulls the o2 sensor out of the exaust pipe and it works fine. the check engine lite still comes on once in a blue moon but goes out in with in a min or 2. i got the part at big daddys garage, it was only 15$. but they do have one that has a mini cat built into it, that one is 50$.

Ya I saw that one on big daddy but the site said its only good up to around 6 litre engines, I may try it. Thanks for your input! Obviously you didn't know how the truck was before so you couldn't tell a difference in power or mileage right?

Unless your existing converter is plugged there is very little to be gained by removing that converter. More trouble to bypass everything than just leaving it alone.

I kinda figured that, just thought maybe that big of a cat would be stuffing this thing up some. Thanks for the input
