Only get the plastic tanks from LMC. The steel ones are galvanized. You're not supposed to use diesel in galvanized tanks.

Update!!

Well lots of good things happened today. Got the old bed off and got the flatbed rigged on today. It came off a Chevy 3500 so it needs a little work and it will be good to go. Gonna drop the height of it by at least half of what it's sitting at now. I also got to weld on some frame extensions. I'll get all that done Saturday. Got to get 2 new rear shocks for it tomorrow as when I pulled the bed off today I noticed that the driver side shock is completely rusted off and no longer attatched and the passenger side is half way rusted through. Also a buddy of mine ran to Michigan for me today and picked up 2 ZF5's that were behind 7.3's. I paid $150 for both of them. They are in pieces and the one bellhousing is cracked but for other than that they are in good shape. Couldn't pass the deal up. Gonna put up the 2 pictures I got today. I'll post some more pictures up tomorrow.

So haven't been on this thread for awhile. So here's an update. Flatbed still needs welded on....I know I've been slacking. Got the rebuild kit for the DB2 and a set of injectors. Just need to throw those in. I'm up to 3 ZF5 transmissions....I just need to put one together and throw it in the truck. Possible solid front axel swap happening soon as well. Not sure what direction I'm going in with this truck now. I really want to build a motor, but I want to build something different.....something that you don't see in a truck everyday. And with that said I'm a big CAT fan, so I'm thinking possibly a 3126 or 3208 swap may happen in the future here at some point, or possibly a DT466. Heck I really don't know, but there's a little update.

Haha I thought about that....for some reason I want something big though....idk...the sound of a 500hp 3208T is sounding pretty good though. My Grandfather has one sitting in the shop that I don't think he is going to do anything with it. That mated to a Fuller 6pd with OD is sounding pretty nice. Haha

There wouldneed to be some serous mods to the truck, the governor on the 3208 has little concern for the rest for a driveline sized for a pickup. This is just 3rd hand info, but I heard of a guy that did this swap and it worked great as long as the pedal was feathered and if he encountered a steep hill the driveshaft stayed at the bottom.

At one time I did see a pic of a 69 F-350 CC with one in it, the lift required to fit the oil pan was nuts.

When i first had the general idea of what i wanted my pickup to be (roughly 7 yrs old) I was dead set on putting a CAT 1160 in. Well.. the thing is just too big to be practical, dwarfs a 7.3 and 460 and weighs in at 1620 dry. So i settled for the 7.3 it was free, diesel, V8, free, it came with a donor truck, i knew it would fit, and it was free. haha

Yeah this 3208T came out of a truck so it wouldn't have the variable govenor in it. I've run a couple tractors with a regular 210hp 3208 in them and they are by no means a power house. I run a Steiger Wildcat II to work ground with in the spring and that thing is a complete dog. Most of the info I've read about people swapping these thing's into pickups is that they are dogs but that's cause they are using the low HP models. And all CAT's are fuel hogs. That's just a given haha.

An 1160?? What did they run those in?? Idk my motto has always been go big or go home and that's how I usually go about things in my life haha....and a 613 CUI diesel under the hood of a pickup truck sounds pretty darn good to me haha.

From what i understand the 3208 replaced it. We have one in our '69 F-8000. 636CID of NA 225hp diesel. We call it the 'little diesel' because just about every other truck we have would outrun it. But it is by far the most fun to drive of them all.

The 1160 was the biggest engine in that family, i can remember what the others are right now.

im all about goin big, but even i see a point where you can get, dare i say, too big..lol my buddy and i are in the process of putting a 453 Detroit in a 1970 chevy c 30. just about the right size for that truck.

i think that in goin with something the size of a 3208, you would have a hard time keeping parts where they are supposta be. that and just the mass weight of the thing you would neet to do some seroios frame beefing. you'd probably never get to drive it because it would always be broke

We had a C8000 that had a wider frame because it was wider then the 534 gas. The 3208 is 636cid. In trucks 210hp NA 250 turboed. They also had a 215hp turbo fuel sipper at one point. IIRC the motor before the 3208 was the 1175, still 210hp, but it and the early 3208's had an inline injection pump. The later 32's had the pump shaped like a V8 motor. AND IIRC they weigh out pretty durn heavy. Would it be awesome YES, pratical NO, but does anybody care about the last one?

Yeah those things are by far now power house haha. My Grandfather has one in his 2255 Oliver and one in his Steiger and my Uncle has one in his White 2-180 and he also has a 3150 in his 2250 Oliver. They are all the 210hp models well other than the 3150....I believe that thing is 190hp.

Yeah the one teacher here at school has an old 50's style chevy with a 6V53T in it. It's pretty sweet actually. I saw another old chevery with a 6V53T down in it as well. As far as front end part's you would just have to beef it up to begin with. A 453 swap is pretty cool though....especially if you swap one on that has the Jake on it.

Ah yeah I meant 636cid and not 613....idk why I was thinking that. I've never seen a 3208 with the inline pump on them. The one I would want to run in a truck would be one of the newer 3208T's which I believe were like 350hp or 400hp....something like that. They are pretty heavy...like 1600 lbs or something like that...but hey I've seen guys drop 8.3 Cummins in Dodge 3500's so why the hell not haha.

Th e highest rating I have seen for a 3208T is 250hp. Are you talking about turning it up or something?
