E99 PCM Removal Question

Looking at the instructions for removing the PCM and it says to remove the 10 mm bolt holding the wiring connector on the front of the firewall just under the brake master cylinder.

When I look I see there are three wiring connectors with 10 mm bolts in them.

Do I have to remove all three bolts and all three connectors before I can remove the PCM or just the top one?

Thanks for the help.

You aren't looking at the right connector. Best way to locate it is by looking inside the cab first. By the parking brake you will see the PCM case in a plastic housing. Make note of where it exits the firewall and then go back under the hood. You will see a rectangular connector with a plastic cover and a single 10mm drive bolt in the center. Loosen the bolt with your tool and then just reach down there and finish unscrewing it with your fingers. The bolt remains in the connector so you'll have to feel when it's loose and then gently wiggle the connector until it comes free from the PCM.

Then go back inside the cab and remove the two little hex head screws holding the plastic case to the bracket. Swivel the back of the PCM towards the passenger side and it will come loose.

Hope this helps.

PCM

Thanks, you are correct.

It became clear once I got my nose down there and saw that the connector I wanted was right where I had been told it was.

Got the PCM our, opened it and found no chip.

On to other ideas .
