Tips for installing rear 3-pt seatbelts in 1990 Xtra cab
Just bought a 1990 Ford F250 extended cab in great condition. Now I'd like to install a set of shoulder harness seat belts in the back seat for the kids to ride safely. I've pulled the interior trim and was disappointed to see there's no factory anchor pt. on the rear pillar. I've spec'd out some aftermarket belts from Wesco that should work and they also sell anchor kits. Looks like I need to fish the anchor down behind the rear pillar skin, secure it, and the rest is easy. Found the following excellent thread in the forum from a guy who added shoulder belts to his 1966 F250 (https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...seat-belt.html).
Trouble is, it appears he had much easier access from above on his 1966 truck than I do on the 1990. I've only got about 1.25" of space behind the skin on my 1990 and no easy access point above. Looks like I may have to cut my own access slot in the pillar skin above the intended anchor point. Anybody done this job and have advice for me before I start cutting? Thanks.
