New 6.2 Super Duty
Just picked up a Job 2 (built 05/20/11) F250 CC/SWB 4x4 XL. Has the 3.73 locking diff. I intend to pull a 34.5' 5th wheel weighing about 10,500lbs. loaded. I would have preferred 4.30, but oh well.
Coming out of a 09 6.4, I notice the power difference a lot. This engine is no 6.4, that's for sure. The ride is noticeably softer, which is good, and the short bed and 2" lower height are great. As a daily driver and kid hauler, this truck rules, as a long hauler, 6.4 350 long bed rules. It's trade off.
I look forward to no more 3 pt u-turns, in-town exhaust regenerations, and driving down the highway for nothing just to clean exhaust. No more planning life around a truck.
Maiden voyage 16.8-17.6 mpg highway via dash meter depending on grade from LA to SD, about 85 miles.
It's nice to be here...

Why are you trying to compare a Gas engine to a diesel engine? The diesel will out perform in most category's except the price of fuel. The gas will be cheaper on maintenance but the diesel will out pull, better MPG, more horsepower, and more torque. The gas is great for someone who does not want to deal with the higher cost of the diesel, both upfront and throughout the life. Just my 2 cents.

Definately the diesel is better for towing but, I don't seem to get any better mileage with my 6.4 tuned or stock than you guys are saying your getting with your 6.2. Tuned I get 16.5-17 @60mph. and 13-14 driving around town if you take it real easy. At 70 I'm getting around 15mpg. Stock these numbers were even less, I think 15 is the best I ever got stock and towing my 24' haulmark trailer I got 8.5-9.5. I'm looking forward to paying .40 cents a gallon less for gas when my new truck gets here!

From what i have seen from most people here they are 8.5-9 weather ut is gas or diesel. The big difference is the city driving with the diesel. With the 6.2, you can only expect about 11-12 at the most and 14-15 on the highway with good weather and little hills. The 6.2 can tow anything and does a good job of it. You dont lose very much in towing weight with gas vs the diesel, the trucks are built with the same parts and the inly differnce is what under the hood. You will like the 6.2 and will have no prolem towing your trailer.
