New Rims/Tires, Check this out! Good tire Info.

Most of you might had seen a post or two regarding my stock tires. 18" Continentals that come one FX4 trucks.... . I do most of my traveling in the winter. These tires plain SUCK in the snow for those that need to know. Dangerous. I priced out a new set, and it was going to cost $1200. Not happy to be putting $1200 into a brand new truck.

So I got this idea. I don't LOVE the 18" stock rims. I had 20"s on my 08, and felt is was a down-grade. I hate downgrading.. Looked around on Ebay, and ended up finding someone with a set of take-off stock Ford OEM 20's with the upgraded Michelin LTX AT tires. Love the rims, and I've found only good things said about the tires. I paid $1700. Shipped them right to loading dock at work.

Best part. Sold stock rims and tires for $1200. Out of pocket = $500. Yes I had to perform the TPMS re-calibration procedure. Page 256 in the owners manual I believe. It's around there somewhere.

Love the new look. Had a chance to run the tires in the snow last week. 100X better without questions. Check it out.

Nice look! I'm working on the same thing right now...I just don't care for the stock 18" rims but I'm not an aftermarket wheel guy either. Are the 20's from an 2011/2012 truck or will previous years work?

Same here. For some reason, I didn't like the stock 18" Lariat wheels. Couldn't get over it. These 20's are take off from a 2011 Ford F350. Factory OEM rims.

Search ebay. There are companies out there that buy take-off rims/tires. In my case, they were building a special truck for a movie, and took off these rims/tires when the truck was new. There was not a scratch/ding/dent to be found. Brand new. Tires were brand new, no questions. The only thing you need to do is to swap over your TPMS sensors and recalibrate your trucks computer.

Man that looks great. Thats what I want to do someday and get rid of my stock 17" rims they look funny on a big truck like that. Nice to see what my truck would look like with them on seeing how I have the exact same truck color and all lol. I have to ask how much it raised the truck up if any? I have a standard garage door and olny have about 4-6 more inches before it hits the roof.

I kept my stock Lariat 18's and put a set of BFG A/T tires on them for $1400, Pricey but you cant go wrong with the BFG's!! also gives the truck a "tougher" look.

Ended up finding a set of 20"s from a 2010 with BFG A/T's mounted (spare included). The sale also included a set of Toyo Open Country's M/T with about 50% tread left. Will post pics but not until I get things cleaned up...very slushy and muddy here this week.

What size are the new tires. I like the look of the 20's, they fill the wheel well a lot better. I have been looking to get a bigger tire just for winter and switch between seasons. I like my rims (18's) just don't like the the way the Michelin's look.

New rims / tires

The new wheels and tires look great.

I did the same thing on my 2011. However, I got a brand new set of 20" wheels from an '08 harley edition with new wranglers. The bad news is the TPMS from 2011 only works on 2011 sensors, as per the dealer. I still have the old wheels and tires and will change them out when it is convenient. Until then, little flashing light on dash ..................

I had no issues when I swapped mine. I was expecting to do the re-learn but didn't have to.....just seems too easy. When I get some time I'll deflate one tire and see if the light goes on. I have a feeling it won't but having the TPMS non functional with no idiot light is better than non fuctional with an idiot light I guess.

Did the same thing on my 2011 lariat, found some 20" take offs from a 05 harley davidson edition with goodyears, never driven for $1500. Happy as hell! Think I'm still gonnaa use the 18's with mich. For the winter, I've herd that the harley rims will pit in the minnesota salt.
