94 F250 I-beam bushings
#16
I put Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings in both my trucks. On 2wd's, the poly bushings have to be installed inside the stock steel outer "cup" that goes around the bushing and presses into the I beams. When I did mine on my 2wd, I didn't even press out the cups. Just cut out the old rubber, ran some sandpaper around the cup to get all the left over rubber off of it, install new poly bushings, bolt I beam back in.
Took us less time to do I beam bushings on my truck than it took 2 guys to change a belt on an '06 Dodge with a Cummins in it. LOL

The cup is tearing apart.
Just found a local parts store with Moog K8672 for 2wd in stock !
Answered my own question above as bolts are either metric or 9/16
Thanks for all the help guys

I've never been asked what size the bolts are??? My F-250 and both my F-150's have the same size bolts too.. 4x4 and 2wd are the same bolt.. Wonder if it's the F-350 that have different size bolts... Weird. Glad you got your bushings!!

Job Done
Thanks for all the help !
I know that I-beam looks bad, but a new bushing is alot better than what was left of the orginal bushing. Guess I'll start looking for a replacement I-Beam.
This all started when a tire store told me I need upper and lower ball joints last Feb. I didn't believe them so I checked the ball joints and they seemed fine, but a tie rod needed to be replaced. So i did that myself. when I took my truck in for state inspection I told them I replaced the tie rod and asked them to check out the entire suspension and check the alignment. They said they only needed to adjust the side I did the tie rod on which I thought was odd. Recently I crawled under the truck to see what might need to be replaced before the winter and I almost crapped my pants when I saw the I-beam bushings. I can't believe that the mechanics that put my truck on a lift to work on it could not see what I could see by sliding underneath it.

I really apprecaite your help, It was easier than I thought it would be.
Took longer to replace the headlight assemblies.
I don't weld but I did hear the trick of filling in and re-surfacing

You could pull the beam, fill in that area with welds, then take it to a machine shop and have them machine it to make it a perfect circle again and fit the bushing cup. Or you could try to get it back right by welding it and then sand it out with a sanding bit on a dremel or die grider. It would take some time, but I think it could be done. Just have to take your time.

If the new bushing went in there tight, just keep an eye on it to see if the bushing gives out. As long as it stays intact I think you'd be better off not welding it. The heat from the weld would make the "eye" on the end of the I beam weak, IMHO. They are made from cast metal making them harder to weld. If there is an expert welder here (I'm not) please correct me if I'm wrong.
Edit: I just saw trhe pic of the I beam with the old bushing removed... worse than I thought. Unless money's real tight I'd be looking for a used I beam from the salvage yard.
