!966 F100 Gas Tank

Well I pulled the gas tank today and enough rust came out to cover my drive way. Looking inside looks just as bad. It also has two holes in the lower left corner. So I am in the market for a new one. Anyone have a rust free on sitting around or can recommend a inexpensive company to order one from?
Thanks
Chris

Nice colored fuel..

Chunks of rust in the fuel filter

Cool pic of the rust

may be better to find someone to boil it clean and repair it other than a 300 dollar replacment tank. or look into a behind the rear axle mustang gas tank conversion.

whatever you do...good luck.

+1.
take it to a radiator shop for boiling, then treat it with US Standard Tank Sealer (a POR-15 product). worked like a charm for me. the sealer was $30, i think the radiator shop charged me about the same to boil it.

Picked up a gas tank yesterday from a 1968 f100. Best news it was free.
Just a little bit of rust. Going to clean it up seal it and paint it white to match the truck.

Mine is not rust free, but is gummed up and solid inside. Rather than a original gas tank I found an RCI 15 gallon fuel cell on ebay. I am mounting it in my bed and getting more much needed space in the cab.

C1TZ-9002-K .. 18 Gallon In-Cab Fuel Tank - 1961/69 F100/750 / Replaced

1970: FoMoCo replaced C1TZ-9002-K with DOTZ-9002-A .. 19 1/2 Gallon In-Cab Fuel Tank for use as a service part replacement, was also factory installed in 1970/72 F100/750.

DOTZ has been reproduced by Blue Oval Truck Parts (Anaheim CA), available from all the repro parts sellers.

It doesn't look THAT bad to me. You can do as suggested above for what shipping a new one would cost. I got lucky and found a repop on craigslist.

I've got a good 1970(?) tank in the shed, but you'd have to come to Tennessee to get it. I didn't think it would fit my 66, but I see now that the bottom tab could easily be trimmed to fit.
