2003 7.3 no start after chip installed
Hi guy's, I am new to the forum and I have a quick question.
I just purchased a 2003 F250 7.3
I had a Hypermaxx chip someone gave me out of an 2002 F250 7.3. I installed it hoping it would work on my 03. With chip installed I have no wait to start light and engine just cranks. Are these chips programed to specific PCM calibrations? Or did I not clean the PCM circuit board good enough? Any help please? Thanks

I'm thinking they are. Pretty sure you can't pull a programmer/chip from one truck and put it in another. But don't quote me on that.... Oh, and welcome to FTE

Custom tunes are usually specific to a certain PCM code.
If your Hypermax is a one size fits all type designed for 99-03 7.3 then it should work. Look it up on their website and see what years it's supposed to be for.
No WTS lights means the PCM is not awake. Make sure you have the keys out of the ignition when messing with the chip or you could damage the PCM.
Pull the chip and re-install the PCM by itself and then confirm that your truck starts. If it does, then you probably didn't clean the connectors well enough or you cleaned them too much.
The best way I have found to clean the connectors is with a small brass toothbrush like the kind you can get at the hardware store or Harbor Freight. It's a parts cleaning brush but it has brass bristles. Remove the circuit board from the PCM case and hold it in your hand, palm up next to your chest. Wear a black T-shirt and use the brass brush to sweep little bits of silicone off the contacts. You can watch your shirt and see the white dots appear. When you stop seeing white dots, then inspect the contacts to see if they appear glossy. If so, then use a little piece of scotchbrite pad to lightly scuff off the remaining silicone. The contacts should looks like a dull silver (no gloss) but you should NOT scrub so much that you see copper showing through. If you see copper then you might need to send your PCM somewhere to have it re-tinned.
Clean both sides of the PCM board because there are contact on both sides. You can use a toothpick to clean the areas in between the contacts just to finish up the job. Make sure your chip is securely seated and try again.
Make sure the keys are nowhere near the ignition switch. This is important. If in doubt, disconnect BOTH ground cables on the batteries.
Good luck.

I would have the batteries disconnected before I did anything to the PCM. There are hot wires to it at all times and connecting/disconnecting any computer type anything while hot is a bad idea.
First thing I'd do is remove the chip and put it all back together to make sure the PCM is still OK.

This is for a DP-Tuner, but it's the process: http://www.dp-tuner.com/files/dp-tun...stallation.pdf
When I bought my chip, they asked for the code of the PCM before they sent my program. That motor and transmission is really expensive and this is going to dramatically alter the way your vehicle treats itself. Do you have confidence in the chip and do you have the gauges to make sure you don't burn something up?
I'm just sayin'.
