1975 F-150 Flooding problem

Well folks I'm back again...having an extreme flooding problem with my 460. Truck has an Edelbrock 1406 carb and an Airtex 5-9 psi electric fuel pump. Seems that not only is fuel mileage outrageous but as I was testing some electrical issues and pump was running that fuel pumped through the carb and filled the intake manifold. Any suggestions?

Too much fuel pressure. Edelbrock's don't like more than 5 lbs pressure. Install a regulator.

X2 on the Holley Fuel Pressure regulator. Pn 12-803 IIRC. Had the same issue with an Eddy carb and the regulator solved the problem. Got mine from Jegs for about $65 plus shipping.

Agreed, too much fuel pressure. FPR is needed when exceeding 5.5 PSI with an edelbrock.
Don't bother with the cheapo Mr Gasket (ect) "Dial type" FPR. They are very restrictive when it comes to max flow, and have been known to suffer from leaking that results in a fire.

I agree with the Eddy carb not liking much more than 5psi, but i disagree on the Mr. Gasket FPR, i've been running one for 8yrs, issue free, no leaks, no fuel starvation at high rpm's, just my own experience, as with most things, it's all subjective.

Sometimes, the Mr Gasket FPR works ok. Wierder things have been known to happen. For instance, we just had a 5.6 quake in Oklahoma.......

The floats are not adjusted right, or they are sticking. pull the top of the carb off and investigate.

Once you get the fuel sorted... I would change the oil all that fuel is making it's way to the oil.
