Sirius Sportster 6 and 2011 F250
I'm a satellite radio fan, and thinking about converting to a separate reciever unit (as opposed to using the deck in my truck), when my subscription runs out. I'd like to do this so I can have satellite radio at home/office/truck/trailer/wife's car.
I've been looking around here and elsewhere on the net, but I can't find anything on an installation in a 2011-ish F250/350. I'd like to do this myself, but am a rookie at A/V stuff in a vehicle. I'd like to find a nice clean place to mount it, and do all the wiring behind the dash, and do things like hard-wire it into the factory deck (the non-nav one) and use the factory antenna.
Has anyone done this on this model truck. I'd appreciate any hints, instructions, or pictures anyone might have. Also, if anyone has any idea what it would cost to have this done professionally, please let me know as well.
Thanks.

I'm currently using the factory unit in my F250, though I was using my Starmate in the F150, and switching it between 3 vehicles. (Now it's only the van and the wife's Mountaineer).
I had the unit suction cup mounted just to the left of the rear view mirror in the truck. I bought a cigarette lighter adapter from Radio Shack and tapped a hot & ground from the over head console (lights). Worked great and was about as stealth as you could get. I didn't go to the trouble in the other 2 vehicles, though it would certainly be doable. For those 2 I just had extra antennas and power cables running in plain view.

I had my in-dash navigation system installed at Best Buy for $100 and then another $60 for the steering wheel control. (you don't have to buy the components at the store - I got everything for mine from Amazon.)
For those of us who aren't that adept at this kind of work, $100 seems like a pretty good deal. I'm sure you could spend half of that much farting around getting the tools and supplies you'll need.
Good luck! I think that Sportster looks like a good option if you're not looking for an in-dash system.
