Search this forum for the thread on door codes. You can then download a list of all of the five number combinations. Using this list you try each one until it works. I did it and found the code, wish I could say on the first page but I had to keep punching until almost the end. Good luck to you.

Here is an old link I had saved. I think there was a better organized one on here though.

Weak security in our daily lives@Everything2.com

And as far as the dealer charging it all depends on the individual dealer.

Didn't search this forum though, huh?

I posted a compilation from a bunch of other posts on how to find the master code and user code for early-model Excursions:

Press the right two buttons at the same time. This should lock all the doors.

I went to the dealer for a diagnostic and replacing a shorted catalytic senseor. Asked them if they could find the code for me. They did and didn't charge me.

Im sure if you go in just for them to pull the codes, they will charge you but if you have them work on the vehicle and ask them if they can get the code for you, they will do it for free.

Okay, it worked... Doors locked by pressing the last two buttons. Now to just find the stinking code. I thought I had figured it out by looking behind the dash but the number I found didn't work. I guess I will have to go through the process of manually doing it.
