Lucas Oil Injector Cleaner any good?

Everytime I head into the local AutoZone, the sales guy always tries to sell me Lucas Injector Cleaner. The bottle says for Gasoline and Diesel engines. Whats the concensus on this product? Is it any good for the 6.0?

Just curious.

If you are talking about the fuel additive, I have used it before. It really quiets the injectors down on my 7.3. I have never had my injectors out, so I don't know about the cleaning part, but the truck runs great with it. Now keep in mind the 7.3 will burn oil, kero, ATF, vegetable oil, and just about anything else laying around your garage. But Lucas Oil is a good brand.

It's not one of the preferred brands...Ford's Cetane booster and PowerService's Diesel Kleen (gray bottle) come to mind at the top two. You should be able to get DK at WalMart and about any auto parts store. I feed my truck DK white (winter) and grey (summer/warm months) and don't have any issues with injector clogging or poor fuel mileage. Also, if you have a Tractor Supply, Orchlins or Atwoods near you...check the automotive area. I've found DK to be $4-$5 cheaper at those types of stores than at WalMart. They are also usually competitive on the motor oil, just not as wide of a selection as a regular parts store or WalMart.

You forgot jet fuel...but I guess that wouldn't be laying around your garage either then. For the record, a 6.0L will burn most of all that...though I'd wouldn't use waste motor oil or waste ATF.

Thanks guys.

I happen to live near a farming community that has a pretty well stocked supply store. I'll check it out next time I go there to see if they carry the DK. I never thought to look there.

Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up. I went to Tractor Supply and they had the DK 80oz white bottle for $11.99.

There's just no way to figure this out, but despite the DK price difference, the price for Rotella T6 varies from $21/gal at Wally World, up to $29/gal at Tractor Supply? Go figger.....

I've always had very good luck with Lucas products myself, but I have not used their injector cleaner.

I run Mystic JT8 in my truck, granted it's a syntheic blend it's cheaper at Atwoods than at any parts store or WalMart in town. The 80 oz bottles of DK goes for $11 at Atwoods, Wal-Mart it's $16...don't even look at the part stores. So yeah, go figger, there's no rhythm or reason to it.
