My understanding is that the 289 was never used in the 1968 Mercury Cougar, they got the 302 from the very beginning of the model year.

 

Ok I found a e150 van with the 5.8 motor and it has a e4od trans with a button for the overdrive. Can I use this for the truck or will it be like the AODE and a pain?????

 

Can with a 292, a 302 was put in before I got it. The brakes are so trashed and I’m looking to put some better components on it to be safer on the road. Still has closed knuckle axles.

What would be be a good donor car for a full brake system and power steering?
