Problem getting my '96 4.9L started

I'm swapping in a '96 4.9L into my '86 F-150. I can read all the sensors I have hooked up (all but EGR, O2 sensors, purge solenoid..). I can view them on the OBD-II scan tool, but I'm not getting spark or injector pulse. Any ideas? No codes...

I just put that in yesterday. I suppose I could test the sensor... Maybe that aluminum shielding? I saw someone else posted about it as well...

I think we need a bit more info on the swap. What did you transplant from the '96?

The wire harness, the sensors, the ECU, the DLC. However I didn't use the junction box and all the factory connections. I just ran my own wires.

This give you an idea.

Same as any other engine. Air, fuel, and spark.

Are your fuel pumps running when you turn the key to on? They should also be running while the engine is cranking.

If you're not getting spark then it could be the PIP sensor in the distributor.

It started! Turns out I needed to power up the ignition module and distributor externally. The wiring diagram I have is very poor.
