Truck starts without key, HELP !!!!

Hey all
Could really use some input here.

86 f350, 351W, C6, no AC.....

I have replaced the starter ( just figured ), solenoid, put new contacts on all the wires that connect to the batt side of the solenoid.
Have the solenoid wired with ignition wire on "S"..truck starts without key as soon as I connect ground to negative side of battery.

I disconnected the steering column ignition switch harness, truck still starts as soon as I connect negative side of battery.

I removed all wires to solenoid except ignition to "S", solenoid to starter, and batt to solenoid.
Steering column ignition harness connected, truck starts as soon as I connect negative to battery.
Steering column ignition harness DISconnected, truck starts as soon as I connect negative to battery.

I removed all wires to solenoid INCLUDING ignition to "S", with only solenoid to starter, batt to solenoid.
Steering column ignition harness connected, truck starts as soon as I connect negative to battery.
Steering column ignition harness DISconnected, truck starts as soon as I connect negative to battery.

This happened with and without new starter.

To me, this says solenoid but its the second NEW solenoid.

Anyway....thanks for any help.

Attached is pic with wires attached except solenoid to starter....it,s next to...

If it starts cranking with nothing but the 2 large battery cables attached to the solenoid, the solenoid must be bad.

Aaaaaaah.....

After smoking up some wires I descided to buy a manual to see if The Beast may have a wiring issue.....

The wiring from alt through to the starter looks nothing like the pic below....
....in fact, I found it hard to believe my truck never once burnt to the ground, let alone ran or even charged a battery !!!!!
God protetcts the unaware, I guess
