Will a 1990 F350 fit on a Uhaul Tow Dolly?

I have a 1990 Crew Cab F350 4x4 I need to pick up in Texas. Wil it fit on if I back it on? It has 235x85x16 tires. Thanks

if you look up the width of the truck I think U-haul lists the width of their dollys on their website. I know my '84 chevy blazer won't fit and I think I looked at towing my '89 F150 with one and it was also too wide.

I towed a Chevy Astro with one a couple years ago. It didn't fit very well. If it were a long distance, I probably wouldn't have done it.

Why do you want to back it on?

I doubt it will fit forward. It may fit backwards though since the rear is 4" narrower than the front

According to U-hausl site. 72" is the MAX tire width.
And if body width is over 72" you must use late model dolly that is silver in color.

Now, the width of a F350 4wd front tires is 78" so in theory the back is 74" so.......

NO, it will NOT fit

Pretty sure it is to wide to go on a dolly or a trailer. may look at renting a trailer from a equipment renter, Cat, Kabota, John-Deere, or what ever is around. We have Star rentals or Equip-rent, Just a thought and it will probably better setup for the weight of the truck.

I want to back it on because the rear axle is a great deal nrrower then the front. I can then lock the steering column, unlock the hubs, and not have to worry about removing any driveshafts. If Uhaul offers the silver dolly it should work.

Never mind if it fits on the dolly and if the tire straps reach around the tires.. which they may not.. what are you planning to tow that 7000lb truck with?

Here's a little story. I recently rented one of these dollies to move a Ranger we bought and the straps were a fair bit too small for 235/75-15s... don't know if I would try it with anything larger. But that's not the best part, I had to lie to them and say I was going to haul a Fiesta because their software system wouldn't allow the booking with the Ranger.. said it was too heavy for my F150 to tow. It seems the software is based on vehicle weights and they won't book any combo where the tow vehicle is less than about 60% more than the one being towed, and of course the numbers they have for curb weights are way off.. had my truck listed at 4300lbs. Anyway... if you do find a dolly that will handle the F350 come back and let us know how it goes.. and what story you had to use to rent the thing.

I will be towing it with a 94 Crew Cab just like the one I am picking up. It is a F350 Diesel 4x4 also. I rented an orange tow dlly in Salem, OR and hauled a 62 F250 4x4 bck to KY with no problems. I think if the tire straps won't fit I can use my chains and binders to secure it to the dolly as long as the table of the dolly can still pivot.

Don't think you're going to be able to use a tow dolly either. I have a Demco pivoting dolly (pretty standard rental-type unit) and recently I towed a Honda Odyssey on it - the Odyssey was actually too wide to fit on the dolly and the tires were up on the lips of the dolly on each side, with the fenders of the minivan hitting the fenders on the dolly. I won't do that again (it was a short tow, about 15 miles).

So no on the u-haul trailer (my friend tried it with his '75 F250 4x4 standard cab, and it didn't work out well - he ended up driving it all the way across the country behind his wife in the U-haul truck) and no on a tow dolly (esp. since most of them don't have brakes).

You could put the transfer case into neutral and flat-tow it using a towbar, but then you would have serious issues with stoping (unless you had somebody riding in the towed rig that could activate the brakes; even without power assist it would be better than nothing).

What measurements were you looking at?

Uhaul said it had to be 72" or LESS.
The rear end of the truck(from outside of tire to outside of tire) is 74"

How do you fit 74" in 72"?

You want to try and tow an CC F350 with a CC F350 from Texas to Kentucky, i assume (thats where you have listed as home)?

That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. If the 90 is drivable I'd try and get a greyhound bus there or something and just drive it back.

I just called Uhaul. The wider model tow dolly (assuming that's the newer Silver edition) will tow 75" or less. The older tow dollys will tow 72" wide or less. The 1962 F250 I towed from Oregon to KY fit snugly on a orange Uhaul. The 1962 was 4x4 also. I don't care about the width. Of the body because it's 4x4 so the fenders will be above the dolly anyway. Only the tires need fit. It looks like the silver dolly will just clear.

When towing the 1962 the tire straps fit but just barely. It has the original narrow split rim tires on 16.5" rims. I towed that from Oregon with my crew Cab (backed it on, transfer case in Neutral, unlocked hubs, locked down the steering wheel. I think I'll b3e ok with the wider dolly.

Between the cost of the fuel, the time driving, renting the dolly (and hoping it fits on there)-Pay a transport company to move it, probably would cost you 500 bucks total. Yea its alot of cash but no worries.

That or find a real trailer to tow it.
