Under dash power

Hi all,

I didn't see this on a quick check so I will ask. Where do you all get power (12v) under the dash? I need to wire in a couple of accessories, and can't figure out a couple of safe take off points. My Honda fuse box has several spare terminals, not seeing that here.
01 F250, 4x4, cc, 7.3.

Thanks.
Tom.

Look for a connector directly below the radio in line with the gas petal. This connector is for a brake controller or cb/comm radio. Forget what color wire has switched 12v on it. A harness that plugs into this connector is available from a dealer or online. I have a spare harness that we pulled from a wrecked F350 a few years back - pm me if you want it.

Your Axillary Idle Control connector has 12v keyed power. You can find it directly behind the access panel at your knees (just below the steering column). The connector is attached to the lower horizontal support and will be visible as soon as you remove the access panel. Unless you have an AIC in your truck (not common) then this connector will be unused and available for your needs.

The attached file shows the shape and pin outs for that connector.

Thanks guys, sorry I haven't replied lately. I am already using the "extra" harness for my brake controller, but the Aux Idle conn is sitting there unused, 'till now.
There is also a gray rectangular conn, mounted between the steering column and the fuse box, four wires. Anybody know?

Tom.

There should also be a wire up in there near the brake controller connector that is a "switched +12V" wire. I don't remember the color right off, and it might be taped back to the rest of the harness.
