If you don't have one originally a license plate bracket is nice. On our 02 with 05 bumper we just used a 02 style license plate bracket. It pushes out more but I personally like it better then the stock 05 license plate bracket. Mine I got for free but I don't think they are very expensive.

Another thing I like about it is it blocks things from getting in that small opening and it doesn't affect the fog lights.

These are $55 on the internet if you search the product and they are a great mod. They were on the truck when we got it. They are called slide and locks made by Hi lift I believe. They are overall very strong and I use them all the time plus they can be slid where ever needed. Actually I trust these more then the stock tie downs in the bed. I personally never cared for ones in the bed sides or ones that you loosen by hand then move and tighten as usually the bed rails bend and it messes the covers up.

The Hi-Lift system is pretty neat. I am going to look into that.

I have been considering bed lighting using parts off superbrightleds.com.

We use to have a 2006 F150 with them and a camper shell worked great I have thought about them a few times on the 02 and my 88 F150.

I have some similar ones on my 88 F150, the 02 F250, the 07 Harley, 84 B2, and 85 Chevy van. I like them a lot but I do have to say when you go to the tire shop watch them or take them off before you give the tire to them. I have seen them taken off and replaced with the regular black ones.

usually it isn't from that usually the tire people around here just don't care and replace it. You don't know how many times I have had to go back into the tire shop to get the correct ones back.

Most of your good techs take them off and replace them because they corrode and very stuck the valve stem. This is more so with the newer vehicles with bolt in tpms sensors. When I replace the stems I will not put those aluminum caps back on because it just causes more issues then solves. However I will hand then to the customer and repeat what I've said here and leave it up to them but it doesn't leave the bay with aluminum on it

A 99 cent valve cap breaking a 100+ dollar sensor doesn't make any sense to me.

So the aluminum corrosion gets on the inside portion of the stem that bad to effect the sensors?

Never heard of this but I guess it is possible. I have ran these for years and no problems.

It doesn't affect the sensor it self, it affects the stem. it corrodes and gets to the point that when you go to remove the valve cap it snaps the metal stem, or it allows moisture inside and when you go to remove the core it snaps the core. Both make the sensor useless for holding air, requiring it to be replaced because the stems are not replaceable. The sensor itself still works, we use one as a thermometer for the bay.

I'm going to assume you check your pressure regularly or don't have the quantity of salt that they run in my area. It happens pretty regularly if the customer doesn't run a stem or they have those aluminum deals
