parking brake cable

Help.........there must be an easier way than my current approach.
I am pulling the cab off and cannot get the parking brake cable unattached. What's the trick? Would like to leave it connected to the brakes and remove it from the cab.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
thanks
Brian

Brian, I don't remember what you're working on. If you could give us the year, it would help. I'm familiar with 48-52's.

If it's a 53-56 then I think all you have to do is remove the nut on the end of the cable on the cab portion. It should be located about 6 inches from the rear of the cab directly in the center. The bracket that is attached to the two rear cables should just slide off. Good luck, John

Sorry guys, I forgot to tell you what year.
1960 styleside. I have removed the handle and the brakets that hold it to the cab, I'd like to remove the braket and slide it through the firewall and leave the assembly hanging and attached to the cableing. The whole effort is at taking the cab off to clean and paint the frame and work on some rusty parts of the cab.
thanks

bcwaack,
You'll have to disconnect the cable from the parking brake arm to pull it out the bottom. If it's like my '59, the cable is anchored in the parking brake arm with a peg. The peg sticks out the top of the channel in on the top side.
Good Luck,
Brett
