Do you have a 4spd or the ZF5 in the truck you are trying to put it in.

4 spd. It's the only trans we could fit in this particular application.

Has anyone used a 6.9 flywheel on a 7.3? I saw the write up and it says it's not balanced for it but was there any catastrophic failure?

When I put the zf5 in my 85 I used a 7.3 single masss conversion on the 6.9, and had no issues. I reason I used the 7.3 flywheel is I couldn't come up with the right clutch for the zf. The 6.9 uses 6 bolts to hold the pressure plate to the flywheel, while the 7.3 uses 8.

What spacer are you talking about? The one between the engine and transmission? I don't think you need to take the flywheel off, but not sure... Why do you need to remove it?
