towing question

I know Chevrolet recommends not to tow over 70mph with the O/D off.....is Ford the same way?
I am towing a 3000lb trialer to Texas (1200 miles) and am not planning on running much over 70 and was just wondering.
Thanks

You'll get a lot of different opinions on this, but here's mine:

It's fine to tow with OD as long as the transmission is not hunting. On level ground, at highway speeds, leaving OD on is fine and does not damage the truck.

If the transmission does not hunt up and down OD is fine.
But if you need to back off 5mph and lock out the OD.

I plan to leave the O/D off most of the time anyway....was wondering more about driving over 70 wit it off. Trucks turns approx 2800 at 70 with the O/D off.
Thanks

You won't hurt anything running with OD off. You'll use more fuel, though. If the trailer is only 3000 lb. it won't hurt a thing to tow with OD on as long as it's not hunting gears. I use OD towing my 7000 enclosed car trailer as long as the tranny isn't hunting gears and the engine isn't lugging. I do watch the trans temp also.
