New 6.2L Break In

Hey everyone,

Just special ordered my first F250 with 6.2L. I am very excited about it and will be getting it within the next two months. I was just wondering if anyone had some good tips or suggestions for breaking it in? Thanks

Drive it like you stole it!

Congrats on the order! What are the details of the truck?

As far as break in, this is from the manual:

BREAKING-IN YOUR VEHICLE
Your vehicle does not need an extensive break-in. Try not to drive
continuously at the same speed for the first 1,000 miles (1,600 km) of
new vehicle operation. Vary your speed frequently in order to give the
moving parts a chance to break in.
Drive your new vehicle at least 1,000 miles (1,600 km) before towing a
trailer. For more detailed information about towing a trailer, refer to
Trailer towing in the Tires, Wheels and Loading chapter.
Do not add friction modifier compounds or special break-in oils since
these additives may prevent piston ring seating. See Engine oil in the
Maintenance and Specifications chapter for more information on oil
usage.

I may be wrong but I thought in my 2008 the SP option included either a larger rad or larger tranny cooler as well as the springs and alt.

Very well may have Pap. It's like all things over the years with all of the manufacturers....slowly strip away package content in the name of profits.

Guess I should have read the manual, I towed one of my dump trailers with less than 1,000 miles.

I didn't tow it very far (maybe 30 miles total) and the total weight was about 4,000 lbs at the very most, couldn't tell it was there.

Just ordered a 250 lariat gasser. The sales story this year from one dealer is that the snow prep adds a bigger fan for $80. The 200A alternator was included in another pkg I got. I guess that they are selling as many as they can make otherwise they would make the selection of options less secretive. I finally went thru a broker because he was the only guy I could find that even pretended to care what I wanted and bothered to research questions and get believable answers.

The snow plw prep has to have heavier front springs and shocks along with the bigger fan, all for $80, I'd bet on it.
