custom steel wheels for my falcons hubcaps?
ok, so I have had the stuff to do the granada disk brake swap to my 61 falcon for quite a while now, and since it is in need of brakes, its about time that i get to it.
my biggest problem with the granada brakes is that since they use a 5x4.5 bolt pattern, my little chrome 13" rims have got to go. I don't mind the bigger rim, and would love to have about a 15x7 on it, which is no big problem fitment-wise.
the problem that I have is that i still have the full set of good condition factory chrome dog dish hub caps that I want to run with stock style steel wheels (only in my preferred size). but the dog dishes have a tiny 9 5/8 ID that fit very few rims.
the current car craft has an article on using new hoops with old centers, and its got me thinking. if my hubcaps fit onto a 14" mustang or similar rim, would it be possible to get some 15' hoops to fit the 14's centers?

Before I read your post, I was gonna suggest you read that excellent Car Craft article, but I see you already have! If it were me, I'd call the shop in the article, but realistically I'm not sure if you can since it seems all the steel wheels I have seen have about the same amount of "drop" in the rim. Still, those guys seem to know their stuff on wheels, why not give 'em a call?
