Welcome to FTE, Old Duck!

Motor mounts for the coversion to a 302/351 block are available through Bob's F-100's in Riverside, CA ( www.bobsf100.com) or phone # (909)681-1956 9a-5p M-F, as well as a few other places. The conversion isn't too difficult at all and has been done numerous times. I assume you have a compatible transmission and rear end???

Daryl I'd hate to rain on your parade but he said "351 M". 351 M and 400 used the same mounts. I think you make have to fabricate them.

56 ford truck wanna put a 351 m in it

Just figured I'd throw in a few words here. With my 1952 F-3 I'm dropping in a 400M.. identical to the 351M, with the exception to the stroke. Althought I opted to fab up my own mounts I do know that you can get a pre fabbed crossmember that will fit the 351-400M block for under a $100. I think the biggest thing you'll need to do is make sure you get yourself a rear sump oil pan, the stock oil pan won't work because of clearance issues. With my truck I'm sticking with the C-6 tranny that was originally bolted to it (engine and tranny out of a 1979 F-150 2wd). Again I could have opted to buy a cross member (another $100 or so) but I am choosing to make my own. Hope this is a bit more encouraging news for you. Good luck with your project

Check with JC Whitney, they sell some of the same mounts (as the specialty retailers) for about half the cost. There are no pictures of the mounts in their catalog (just go by the description)but I bought one for my 302/early 351 Clev. and it is identical to the pictures in the others catalogs. I don't know the difference in mounts between the 351C and 351M but I can bolt either my 302 or my 351CJ onto my mount just by changing the pads.

Might be a way to save a couple bucks.

I also bought my tranny mount from them, had no problems with either.

Hey Duck,

One of these other guys will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that the 351M and 400 shared the same motor mount arrangement with the 429/460, so you might see if you can find a crossmember for one of those and get it to work. I DO know for a fact that the bellhousing bolt pattern is the same as the 429/460. I am also positive that the bellhousing and motor mount bolt patterns are not the same as a Cleveland which used the typical small block patterns, so small block mounts aren't going to do you any good.

Rage, I'm pretty certain the motor towers are not the same with the 351-400M as the 429/460. I know because I have to get differant towers to fit a 460 into my 79 that had the stock 351M. I think the towers for the 351/400 are in a separate class by themselves.

Old Duck...I found the crossmember to drop a 351M-400 into a 48-56 pickup in the PAW (performance autoworks) catalog. I don't have the catalog here in front of me, but give me a day or 2, and I can get the part # and price for ya. They also have the tranny cross member if your gunna use an automatic tranny.
