head light / tail light update

I have used the LED bulbs for my back up lights, and they made a big difference. I have some pretty dark tinted windows as well, so seeing where I am going backwards at night can add to the fun when I dont want to roll down the window, LOL!
There are a ton of light upgrades one can go with to get more light. I know the HID lights can be pretty intense, but so can the price, and you have to find a reputable manufacturer. That along with pricing can be interesting.
Aftermarket lenses and housings help. Though I am not saying that the factory housings are bad, but the diffuser type lenses are pretty outdated for whats being used today. I stepped away from the factory headlamps, and went with some aftermarket headlight housings with clear lenses. That was a good start to getting better lighting up front. The Sylvania Silver Stars are also an awesome bulb to use in either factory headlamps or after markets. Every vehicle I have bought I have swapped out to the Silver Stars right away. There are also several other bulbs a person can get that would be brighter, but I havent personally tested them simply because of being happy with the Silver Stars.

Couple of ideas that might help. First is to replace the current electrical wiring with a kit from LMC or one of your own. It runs the lights directly off the battery and runs the switch through a relay. The current stock setup runs the battery power through the switch and definitely effects the amount of juice getting to the bulbs. Plus it is a safer way to route the power. Easy install and well worth the $80 bucks.
I like the Silver Star bulbs too but when I bought the truck it had some big bulbs in it. They were 80/110s I think and they were great. But they burned out and I can't find replacements - plus, I think they are not actually legal.
Finally, I have a 6" set of KCs on the front and they are well worth the money if you drive in rural areas where you can click them on. I ran the switches through relays just like the LMC set up and when you kick those on it is like driving in the day time. I also put a small set of "driving lights" on the back to use as trailer lights and ran them through relays too. They provide great light when backing up and were only $25 bucks.
Good luck. Here's the KCs
And here's the switches

One of the best options is to go with modern projector HIDs. That is what I am planning.

I will likely not use the turn lenses that he got because I don't like the crystal style.
