Well you asked..................two days ago anyway--here's my up date!
Got a call from a great customer, needed right side door glass replaced on his '07 Dodge Ram 3500 pick up crew cab. Picked up the parts Monday afternoon, scheduled the job for 7am Tuesday. We get snow socked right in the azz later that day---something like 3" or more. That's not a disaster here but the morons trying to drive it in are!
Took me a full hour to go 24 miles on the freakin' interstate forchrissakes. I swear if my crumby Firestone tires didn't kill me the daily commuters would certainly do that job in short order. I arrived in good shape, had an inside space to park the work van and things started along............
Discovered this was actually a late '06 Dodge which greatly changes the glass choice for the front doors; laminated "Securo-Shield vs straight tempered. Scrambling around I found an OE part---cool deal I can fetch it after driving another 70 miles round trip. Getting paid cash, good customer so WTH.
Finished the rear door only to find a VERY noticeable mark that wasn't readily apparent before hand---a sometimes situation in the glass biz. I knew this customer wouldn't go for this, pointed it out and told him I'd get another for that position too. Protected the open truck with plastic sheeting and re-scheduled for Wednesday.
Roads were mostly clear just 24 hours from Tuesday--arrived right at 7am and finished by 10am----time to BS takes a while ya know? He was happy with the job, I got my cash money and skipped away happy but still knowing I'd spent two days doing one job!
Don't ask about my beater car and its new NAPA $100 battery----the alternator seems to have decided this cold weather is too much and died on me. Oh brother...................
