Masive oil leak in the valley of death.

I'm talking a steady flow when the truck is at idle in the drive way. Took over a gallon of oil to go 12 miles. I'm suspecting it's coming from the HPOP, but not sure if it's just a bad O-ring or seal, or am I looking at a new HPOP?

They are steel braided and run to your heads. Make sure they are tight. My friend started ripping his oil pan off before I could stop him and all it was was one of his lines was loose. My truck had one that was broke under the glow plug relay. The line was 229 dollars from ford. I had a rubber one made up for 20 bucks thats good to 4000PSI i believe cause I needed the truck now lol.

Lightbulb

I had the same issue and was one o-ring of the HPOP fittings, BTW I was specting a huge spray under the hood for the massive oil leak and the high pressure, but NO, it only flew slowly without any spray. So good luck.

i had one loose and oil was everywhere. would get in there and not see anything then all the sudden saw a drip then i found my upper high pressure line to be loose. tightened it up, leak went away, for extra insurance i took it back apart and replaced the o-rings. $8 from diesel o-rings i believe. if your loosing that much oil the lines are probally the culprit

Exactly. I also tighened first the fitting, but later I took it back apart and I found that the o-ring was broken, so I replaced it and no more leaks.

Well, this is turning out to be a PITA. tried using this: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...-part-1-a.html thread as a guide, but still getting confused. Not sure what the IPR is or where it is located. Also all the lines on the HPOP are covered by the factory coverings, and I have not found any braided steel lines yet. Pics would be a big help.

Thanks! I knew those were out there but I couldn't remember where I saw them.

I managed to get the water separator/fuel filter out of the way by following that thread. Finally found the IPR connection after I got everything else disconnected and started to pull it out.

Found a mouse nest under the HPOP, (Imagine that) Funny thing is, there does not seem to be any evidence of fresh oil under the HP to rail connections at either end.

Right now it's time for a beer or 3 or 4 before I go any farther.

That was at the hose connection, or is it at the other end of the 90 degree elbow comming out of the HPOP?
