2003 No Start - Need Answers FAST
So, dad called me the other day, and said he was broke down on the side of the road. He said that he was crusin down the highway when out of no where it had no power. He pulled over becuase he though that maybe there was some water in fuel. When he stopped the truck died, and would not restart. He had it towed to my house where I started diagnosing the issue. checked the codes. It had multipule random codes, but the one that stood out from his complaint was an ICP too low. Nothing was active. While watching the ICP I tried to start it. Truck started with barley 500psi of icp. The truck ran like **** and was blowing a black/greyish smoke. I gave it a little throttle and the ICP never went over 650 with desired at 1200psi. I work for international and very farmilliar with the 6.0, but the newer one. With what I knew about the engine I went along with a possiable leaking system. I removed the turbo, and icp sensor. Pressurized the ICP system and with it still pressurized there was an audiable leak coming from around the HPOP. I pulled the manifold and HPOP cover. Pressurized again where that pipe connects to the HPOP and cover. Found that the seal at the front of the HPOP has blown and the stc fitting on that pipe is leaking too.
My questions are is that pump servicable, or does a new pump need to be installed? Also, that pipe from the HPOP to the branchtubes (im assuming its called the branchtube adapter); does the whole pipe need to be replaced or can just the stc fitting be serviced? Another thing, is there an update for that stc fitting on the 1st gen 6.0; kinda like the 2nd gen 6.0?
He's in Savannah untill Friday and was wanting it back by saturday, so fast easy answers would be awesome! And disreguard my spelling... im a mechanic not a lit teacher.

The pump, as far as WE know, is NOT servicable. The branch tube can get/have a hole rubbed in it from the cover, or so I've heard but AFAIK it has no servicable fitting. Here's a good pic of the system: Page 40: Fuel Management System

The pump as far as I know is not serviceable. I did some research before replacing mine and could not find a kit. I wound up going to www.pensacoladiesels.com and purchasing a new one. Ford does make a branch tube but there's no need to buy one if yours is in good shape. I believe you can just get a new o-ring for it. Ford has an o-ring kit for the job iirc. There isn't an updated part for the branch tube - the new one looks exactly the same as the old one. The 03-04 does not have an STC fitting.

The adapter im talking about does connect to the branch aubes via a stc fitting. and when the system is pressurized air is purged from that fitting. stc is short for snap to connect. it does look much different than the new ones but same concept. Does anyone know the part number for that tube? I was able to get the pump from my work, but since I didnt have a ESN parts man couldnt figure out which tube i was talking about. By looking at that picture its the discharge line that im questioning about.

LOL--trust me.....we know what STC means......do a search and you'll be inundated with threads.
I'm sure yours isn't the first to fail but it's the first I've heard of and it's not in my PN list. Sorry. HPOP leaks on an 03 are relatively rare. Usually it's just the pump that fails and makes me wonder if your pump really failed. Do you have a way to test it?

Thanks Chan! Thats exactly what I needed. Now to see if my parts man can convert it to International part numbers. And I just said that because buddy said that engine didnt have a STC fitting, so I wasn't sure if he was aware. Also, I wanted to see if anyone else has seen that front seal blow. When I pulled the pump off I plugged the bottom two holes and supplied shop air and thats when i found that seal to be blown. I do not have a way to bench test the pump. Atlease i dont think i do. Haha. I've only seen a hand full of the 1st 6.0 in our shop. We really dont see too many of the 2nd gen since they are mosttly out of warrnaty. Thanks for yalls help, and for the part numbers. Now I just gotta haggle my parts man to see if i can get the parts at cost.
