One of the fleet trucks keeps going through distributors and I am wondering why? 1977 2wd 460 engine.

I'm not the one changing it, it's a different driver and his truck seems to need service more often than the rest, he doesn't drive aggressively either so it's a mystery to us as to why his distributor needs semi regular distributor changes.

I would guess based on info in your post an oil control issue. Dizzy not getting lubed and wearing out.
I have had LP engines with 80,000 miles plus and never replaced one.

regards

Buy a different brand and see what happens. The fuel the engine is burning will make no difference on how the dist wears. Either something is wrong with how the company is building/rebuilding them or its something weird with the engine.

Agreed on asking why it keeps needing replacement and what is going on it. (bushings, etc, vac advance etc.)

I asked, they say it's a wore out engine, lack of oil getting to the dist, they're rebuilding the engine next year, thanks for the responses guys

When they rebuild it, tell them to get a straight up timing set and some compression (around 10:1) into that engine if it runs straight propane and take advantage of the fuel too.
