carb leaking

Hopefully a quick question. Ive got a 302 2 barrel in my 64 f100 it has a hard time starting and i think i found why today. It seems that the gas is dropping. Down out of the bowl on the front of the carb and puddling into the crevices on the manifold. I understand that this fuel needs to go into the engine for it to run. My question is how does that come apart and is it likley that i can just replace 1 or 2 gaskets to run it into the garage 12 feet away. I have a 351 to put in so i dont want to waste time and money on the 302. Thanks guys.

I'm not sure if you can get just 1 or 2 gaskets, and if you can, it might end up costing as much as a whole rebuild kit. That shouldn't be more than about $30.

But if you absolutely do not want to deal with the 302, and the garage is only 12 feet away, why not just get a couple of buddies together to push it in?

All you'll need is an accellerator pump diaphram and maybe a new base gasket for the carb. If it's a Holley 2 bbl, the diaphram is available without buying a kit. The carb base gasket is as well, Advance Auto Parts carries the base gaskets in stock. They should have the Holley diaphram too, if not, Autozone or O-Reilly do as well. If it's an Autolite 2 bbl, you'll need to buy a kit to get the diaphram, or get one from someone who has an extra. Either way, it's a simple fix, four bolts holding the carb down (plus the linkage) and four screws holding the cover over the diaphram. And if you do decide to do the fix, make sure the new diaphram goes on the right way, it'll only function installed the right way.

Cool i can handle 30 bucks for that.

As for pushing its gotta go slightly up hill, out of gravel, and has a spare drivetrain in the bed. So 30 bucks and an evening is best bet. Thanks.

I would really check the fuel inlet close. They have a screw in filter and is not uncommon for someone to overtighten and crack the carb body. If that's the case, no gaskets will help.
